Heart Disease Treatment

Living with a heart disease is indeed very tough for the patients as they have to face severe changes in their diet and lifestyle at a go. After being diagnosed with a heart disease it becomes mandatory for the patients to live a restricted lifestyle and maintain a time table that looks after their workout time and medication time. Since a number of medicines are prescribed to the patients by the doctors, a strict time table has to be maintained by them in order to accommodate all the pills. For patients who are suffering from heart disease, there is a combination of medication and lifestyle changes that endeavors to make the life better and longer. The most important thing that one forgets during the treatment of nay disease is to stay happy. Happiness is the cure of all diseases as keeps the mind and body refreshed.

Lifestyle changes for patients include s quitting smoking and consumption of alcohol first. A diet that is healthy for heart should be followed every day. This diet can be chalked out by the heart specialists or by a good nutritionist. If the patient is overweight, reducing weight is the top priority to live a healthy lifestyle as obesity is one of the major causes of heart disease. Any disease in the heart signifies that the body is filled with ‘bad cholesterol’ and the only goal should be to bring the level of ‘bad cholesterol’ from the body. These factors can be reduced by being active physically. There are some risk factors that can be discussed by the doctor and should be avoided in order to prevent further heart attack or any complication in the heart disease.

However, lifestyle changes are not the only way to treat heart disease. Taking proper medication is equally important. Medication will also help to treat angina or pain in the chest that is always accompanied with heart disease. One should not rely completely on the medicines as a healthy lifestyle is very important for the medicines to work. The medication should be taken in the same way and time as suggested by the doctor.

Which Exercise is Best For Your Heart

Endurance training indeed burns a lot of calories, but researchers believe it is not the most optimal way to get rid of your body fat.

When performing moderate exercise, your body burns fat but does so for energy. Performing in this manner most of the time sends the signal to your body to hold on to fat. Thus, with moderate exercise alone, your body will store more fat.

On the other hand, when you perform short bursts of more intense exercises, your body consumes a substance named glycogen that is stored away in the muscle tissues. This high intensity workout will condition your body to store more energy in your muscle rather than in your fat. Exercising like this is also more beneficial to burn fat throughout your rest period, as this is when glycogen is replenished in muscle restored.

In a study performed by the University of Quebec, one group of people biked for 45 minutes continuously. A second group trained for short bursts lasting from 15 seconds to over a minute, with recovery periods in between. The lengthier, endurance centric exercisers burned more calories, but the shorter duration exercisers lost more fat. The shorter duration group lost up to nine times the fat per every calorie that was burned.

This explains why endurance athletes generally have a higher percentage body fat than sprinters.
